A heat retentive server (1) adapted to be inductively heated comprises a central portion (2) comprising a heat storage member (3) comprising a material which is susceptible to being heated by induction; and an outer peripheral member (5) connected to the central portion (2) so that the outer peripheral member (5) and the central portion (2) are substantially thermally insulated from each other. Preferably, the server (1) is provided with heat insulation constructed and arranged with respect to the heat storage member (3) so that heat is caused to primarily flow upwardly from the heat storage member (3). Also preferably, the outer peripheral member (5) and the central portion (2) are substantially insulated from each other by means of a thermal break.
