A device and method are described for heat sealing together portions of thermoplastic film, especially in packaging operations. Heat sealing of the films is carried out by applying heat and pressure using one or more inductively heated, moving platen. The platen is heated uniformly in its entirety by passing through electromagnetic induction core.
