A heat-sensitive recording paper comprising a sheet substrate, a heat-sensitive developing layer formed on the top surface of the sheet substrate that develops when heated, and a covering layer formed on the heat-sensitive developing layer which includes a pigment prepared by coating the surface of natural mica with at least one of titanium oxide and iron oxide. The area of the heat-sensitive developing layer that develops appears in a colour different from that of the undeveloped heat-sensitive developing layer due to the regular multiple reflection of light which takes place in the covering layer. Moreover, the undeveloped part of the heat-sensitive developing layer has a pearl lustre which is also due to the regular multiple reflection of light in the covering layer.
