A heat transfer cement containment channel is provided for attachment to a pipe. The containment channel includes a channel member having a first end and a second end, and is dimensioned to fit on a pipe and provide a space between the channel member and the pipe for heat transfer cement. A collar member is integrally attached to the first end of the channel member and extends away from the channel member. The collar is dimensioned to fit snugly over the second end of an adjacent channel member in a longitudinal arrangement of a series of containment channels on a pipe.
