ABSTRACT The invention concerns a heat transfer sheet for color image formation to be used for heat-sensitive transfer recording such as by thermal printer, and concerns a heat transfer sheet for color image formation having dye carrying layers having respective hues of cyan, magenta and yellow formed on a substrate sheet. Its specific features reside in that the respective dye carrying layers each contain one kind or plural kinds of dyes and that the color characteristics of the respective dye carrying layers have values within specific ranges of hue error and turbidity. The heat transfer sheet for color image formation of the present invention having such dye carrying layers provided is excellent in color reproducibility of the respective three primary colors and intermediate colors thereof, and therefore it becomes possible to prepare rapidly and simply color images comparable with color printing or color photography.
