A method for the heat treatment of a casting produced by high pressure die casting, that may exhibit blister forming porosity in the as-cast condition, of an age-hardenable aluminium alloy, includes solution treating the casting by heating the casting to and within a temperature range enabling solute elements to be taken into solid solution. The casting then is cooled to terminate the solution treatment by quenching the casting to a temperature below 100~C. The cooled casting is held in a temperature range enabling natural and/or artificial ageing. The solution treatment is conducted to achieve a level of solute element solution enabling age-hardening without expansion of pores in the casting causing unacceptable blistering of the casting.

L~invention décrit un procédé pour le traitement thermique d'un article coulé produit par moulage sous haute pression d'un alliage d'aluminium durcissable par vieillissement, ledit article pouvant présenter une porosité générant un cloquage à l'état brut de coulée. Le procédé inclut un traitement d~homogénéisation de l~article coulé par chauffage de celui-ci à, et dans, une gamme de températures permettant à des éléments de soluté de passer en solution solide. L~article coulé est ensuite refroidi pour terminer le traitement d~homogénéisation, par trempe à une température inférieure à 100 °C. L~article coulé refroidi est maintenu dans une gamme de température permettant un vieillissement naturel et/ou artificiel. Le traitement d~homogénéisation est effectué de façon à obtenir un taux de solution de l'élément de soluté permettant un durcissement par vieillissement, sans agrandissement des pores de l~article coulé provoquant un cloquage inacceptable de celui-ci.
