32 ABSTRACT The method and apparatus for reclaiming substantially pure sand from a heat treating furnace (19); wherein a casting with sand core and/or sand mold, comprising sand bound by a combustible binder, attached thereto is introduced into the heat treating furnace (19); or, wherein portions of sand core and/or sand mold that are not attached to a casting are introduced into the heat treating furnace (19). Wherein, the reclaiming within the furnace (19) is carried out, in part, by a fluidizer (40) that promotes binder combustion by one or more process of agitating, heating, and oxygenating. Wherein the characteristics of the reclaimed sand (25) are selectively controlled by controlling the dwell time of the sand (25) within the heat treating furnace (19).
32 RESUME Méthode et installation permettant la récupération de sable relativement pur dans un four de traitement thermique (19); une pièce à couler avec noyau en sable ou un moule en sable dans lequel le sable est lié par un liant combustible est introduit dans le four de traitement thermique (19), ou; des parties de noyau en sable ou de moule en sable non lié à une pièce à couler sont introduites dans le four de traitement thermique (19). La récupération du sable à l'intérieur du four de traitement thermique (19) est effectuée, en partie, par un fluidiseur (40), qui favorise la combustion du liant par le recours à un procédé d'agitation, de chauffage et d'oxygénation. Les caractéristiques du sable ainsi récupéré (25) sont déterminées en contrôlant la durée de séjour du sable (25) à l'intérieur du four de traitement thermique (19).
