Described are a filter material which contains heatsealable, biodegradable and compostabie polymeric fibers and is characterized in that the heatsealable, biodegradable and compostable polymeric fibers are drawn, heatsealable, biodegradable and compostable polymeric fibers having a draw ratio which is in the range form 1.2 to 8, and also a process for producing same.
