Abstract This invention relates to a heavy-duty pneumatic radial tire. Prior art tires of this type cause wandering of the vehicle when the tire encounters ruts or the like. This is overcome in this invention by providing a narrow groove in both shoulder portions of the type. Each narrow groove extends linearly around the tire, is situated 1.5 to 5 mm from an edge of the tire, has a width in the range of 1.5 to 5 mm and is inclined at an angle of 1° to 5° toward the center of the tire. Also, the tire is provided with an edge shaped boundary at the join of the rounded tread surface to the rounded shoulders.
