ABSTRACT The invention relates to a heavy duty pneumatic tire, wherein the problem of the stone pick up is effectively suppressed. The tire comprises at least one zig-zag or straight circumferential groove and discontinuous platforms provided on the groove sidewall of the circumferential groove and protruding therefrom. The above circumferential groove and platforms follow the following relations: 0.2 ? 11/L1 ? 0.7 0 ? 12/L2 ? 0.4 0.2 ? H/D ? 1.0 wherein 11 is the base width of the platform; L1 is the bottom width of the circumferential groove; 12 is the top width of the platform; L2 is the open width of the circumferential groove; H is the height of the platform; D is the depth of the circumferential groove.
