LENGTH DETECTING SYSTEM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A length detecting system comprising a laser beam transmitter capable of transmitting a light beam along a predetermined path. A rotating mirror deflects the light beam on a multiplication element(s) to obtain a plurality of equidistantly spaced measuring light beams. Detectors are spaced from the multiplication element(s) to detect each of the measuring light beams. A detection zone is defined between the multiplication element(s) and the detectors. An electronic circuit is coupled to the detectors to indicate which of the measuring light beams has been obstructed by an object projected into the detection zone to provide a signal indicative of a measured length related to the obstruction of the measuring light beams by the object. - 1 -
