The invention concerns a helical drill made of single-cast hard metal carbide comprising a shank, a body (2) with two helical cutting lips (5), diametrically opposite and separated by flutes (6), and a tapered head (3), and two oil holes (4) symmetrically arranged, emerging at the head (3). The flutes (6) have, in cross-section, an elliptic arc (E) shape whereof the centre (0) is located on the circular outline (C) of the drill. The head (3) comprises for each cutting-edge (12), besides a planar draft (13) a planar back draft (15), a third more inclined planar surface (17), delimited by a partially arc-shaped edge (16), at its starting point tangent to the elliptic arc (E) of the flute (6). The optimised configuration of said drill enables it to machine various metals with reduced cutting strain.
Le foret hélicoïdal, en carbure métallique monobloc, comprend une queue, un corps (2) à deux lèvres de coupe hélicoïdales (5), diamétralement opposées et séparées par des goujures (6), et une tête conique (3), ainsi que deux trous d'huile (4) ménagés symétriquement, débouchant au niveau de la tête (3). Les goujures (6) possèdent, en section, la forme d'un arc d'ellipse (E) dont le centre (0) est situé sur le contour circulaire (C) du foret. La tête (3) comporte pour chaque arête de coupe (12), outre une dépouille plane (13) et une contre-dépouille plane (15), une troisième face plane (17) d'inclinaison plus prononcée, délimitée par une arête (16) partiellement en arc de cercle, à son point de départ tangente à l'arc d'ellipse (E) de la goujure (6). La configuration optimisée de ce foret lui permet d'usiner des matériaux variés, avec diminution des efforts de coupe.
