The invention provides a helical device for engagement with a cable, the helical device comprising a single length of metal strip comprising a first helical section (1), a second non-helical section, and a third helical section, the end (3) of either or both the first and third helical sections remote the second helical section being flared away from the longitudinal axis of the helix, the flaring being in the form of a section of spiral helix form. Also provided is a method of producing such a device, which method comprises the steps of: i) feeding strip material to an apparatus, ii) within the apparatus automatically activating helix forming means to form a first section of the strip material into the shape of a helix, iii) within the apparatus automatically inactivating the helix forming means so as not to form a second section of the strip material into the shape of a helix, iv) within the apparatus automatically activating the helix forming means to form the third section of the strip material into the shape of a helix, v) selectively controlling the helix forming means to produce between helical sections of adjacent devices sections of increasing and then decreasing diameter, the strip being cut between the sections of increasing and then decreasing diameter, either prior of subsequent to the formation of the section of decreasing diameter, to provide the flared ends of the two adjacent devices, vi) repeating steps i) to v) to produce further devices.
L'invention concerne un dispositif hélicoïde qui se connecte à un câble. Ce dispositif est constitué d'une bande métallique d'un seul tenant qui comprend une première section hélicoïde (1), une deuxième section non hélicoïde et une troisième section hélicoïde. L'extrémité (3) de l'une ou l'autre ou des deux sections hélicoïdes éloignée de la deuxième section hélicoïde est évasée à partir de l'axe longitudinal de l'hélice, ledit évasement se présentant sous l'aspect d'une section conique en spirale. L'invention concerne également un procédé de production d'un tel dispositif qui consiste a: i) introduire une matériau en bande dans un appareil; ii) activer automatiquement un moyen de formation d'hélice à l'intérieur de l'appareil de manière à conférer à une première section du matériau en bande une forme hélicoïdale; iii) désactiver automatiquement le moyen de formation d'hélice à l'intérieur de l'appareil de manière à ne pas conférer à une deuxième section du matériau en bande une forme hélicoïdale; iv) activer automatiquement le moyen de formation d'hélice à l'intérieur de l'appareil de manière à conférer à la troisième section du matériau en bande une forme hélicoïdale; v) régler sélectivement le moyen de formation d'hélice pour créer entre des sections hélicoïdes de dispositifs adjacents des sections de diamètre croissant puis décroissant, la bande étant coupée entre les sections de diamètre croissant puis décroissant, soit avant soit après la formation de la section de diamètre décroissant, pour obtenir les extrémités évasées des deux dispositifs adjacents; v) répéter les étapes i) à v) pour créer d'autres dispositifs.
