HELICAL SPRING OPTICAL FIBER CONNECTOR AND SPLICE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Optical fibers that have had the plastic coatings stripped from their ends, or ferrule terminated optical fibers or bundles, are connected in aligned butting relation- ship in a close-wound helical strip spring. The spring has first and second axial parts. The first axial part is a right- handed helix and the second axial part is a left-handed helix. Means is provided on the spring for expanding it to permit the fibers or ferrules to be inserted therein. -1-
