72222-124 ABSTRACT The hemiphosphate hemihydrate salt of 2-(1-pentyl-3- quanidino)-4-(2-methyl-4-imidazolyl)thiazole is the preferred salt of an antiulcer agent. The hemiphosphate hemihydrate is prepared by solubilizing dihydrochloride salt of the compound in a phosphate buffer containing acetone and maintaining the resulting solution to form crystals of the hemiphosphate hemihydrate. The hemiphosphate hemihydrate is stable non-hygroscopic crystalline compound and contains a light weight percent of the active agent.
