- 1 - Abstract: The invention provides a lyophilized prepara- tion of hepatitis B vaccine. The preparation comprises a stabilizer and an inactivated, purified hepatitis B virus surface antigen adsorbed on aluminum gel. The preparation is prepared by adding an aluminum gel and a stabilizer to an inactivated, purified hepatitis B virus surface antigen and lyophilizing the mixture, The lyophilized preparation can be kept stably for a long period of time without loos- ing its antigen titer and is useful for the prophylaxis of infection by hepatitis B virus.
