The present invention provides therapeutic compositions comprising extracts of the plant species Echinacea purpurea andSambucus nigra and the extract(s) of at least one further plant selected from the group consisting of Hypericum perforatum, Commiphora molmol and Centella asiatica. The compositions of the invention are of particular utility in the management of inflammatory mucosal diseases of both viral and non-viral origin.
