Abstract of the Disclosure Novel 4-pyrimidinones and thiones having a small alkyl group at the 1-position and a substituted phenyl group at the 5-position are described herein. The novel compounds are prepared by reacting a corresponding substituted-?- dialkylamino-N-[(dialkylamino)methylene]atropamide with a substituted primary amine. The thiones are prepared from the corresponding pyrimidinones by reaction with P2S5. The novel compounds are useful as herbicides.
