ABSTRACT A herbicidal composition containing a synergistic combination of active ingredients which are (1) metamitron (4-amino-3-methyl-6-phenyl-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one) and (2) a substituted phenoxypropionate of the general formula Image (II) alone or in admixture with a solid or liquid diluent or carrier, has high herbicidal activity and is especially suitable for use as a selective herbicide against weeds in sugar beet crops.
