ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE HERBICIDAL AND PLANT-GROWTH-REGULATING 1.2,4-TRISUBSTITUTED-1,2,4-TRIAZOLIDIN-3-ONE-5-THIONE 1,2,4-Trisubstituted-1,2,4-triazolidin-3-one-5-thiones are prepared by the reaction of a 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,4-tria- zolidin-3-one-5-thione and an organohalide in the liquid phase in the presence of a base. These compounds has the general formula Image wherein R1 represents an alkyl group, and R2 and R4 represent, separately, an alkyl group, a phenyl group or a substituted phenyl group. A typical compound is 1-methyl-2-vinyl-(4-chloro- phenyl)-1,2,4-triazolidin-3-one-5-thione. The triazolidinone- thione compounds are useful an herbicides and plant-growth regulators.
