Title HERBICIDAL SULFONAMIDES Abstract of the Disclosure This invention relates to ortho-heterocyclic benzene sulfonylureas, of the following formulae, which are useful as herbicides and growth regulants: Image where Q is Image W" is O or S; W is O, S, or NR; R is H or C1-C4 alkyl; R1 is H, F, Cl, Br, CH3, CF3 or OCH3; R2 is H, CH3, C2H5, OCH3, OC2H5, 5CH3, Cl or Br; R3 is H, CH3, C2H5, OCH3, OC2H5, SCH3, Cl or Br; R5 is H, CH3, C2H5, OCH3, OC2H5, SCH3, Cl or Br; R6 is H, CH3 or C2H5; R8 is H, CH3, C2H5, OCH3, OC2H5, SCH3, Cl or Br; R9 is H, CH3 or C2H5; R4, R7, R10 and R11 are independently H or C1-C4 alkyl; R12 is H or CH3; R13 is H or CH3; R14 is H, CH3, C2H5, Cl, Br. CH3O, C2H5O or CH3S; R15 is H, CH3 or C2H5; R16 is H, CH3 or C2H5; A is Image X is CH3, OCH3 or Cl; Y is CH3, C2H5, CH2OCH3, OCH3, OC2H5, CH(OCH3)2, NH2, NHCH3, N(CH3)2, OCH2CH2OCH3, OCH2CF3, CF3, SCH3 or Image Z is CH or N; X1 is CH3, OCH3 or Cl; G is O or CH2; X2 is C1-C3 alkyl or CH2CF3; Y2 is CH3O, C2H5O, CH3S or C2H5S; and their agriculturally suitable salts; provided that (a) when R8 is other than H, CH3, C2H5 or CH3S, then W is S or O; (b) the total number of carbon atoms of R4, R7, R10 ana R11 is less than or equal (c) when X is Cl, then Z is CH and Y is OCH3, OC2H5, NH2, NHCH3 or N(CH3)2; (d) when Q is Image or Image then R13 is H, R is other than H, X is Cl or OCH3 and Y is OCH3 or OC2H5; and (e) when W" is S, then R13 is H; Q is Image ; A is Image ; and Y is CH3, OCH3, C2H5, OC2H5, CH2OCH3, CH(OCH3)2 or Image .
