A B S T R A C T A herbicidal sulphonylated azinyliminoheteroazole of the formula Image (I) in which A represents nitrogen or the grouping C-A1, in which A1 represents hydrogen, halogen, cyano, nitro or in each case optionally substituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl, alkylsul- phonyl, alkylamino, dialkylamino or phenyl, D represents nitrogen or the grouping C-D1, in which D1 represents hydrogen, halogen, cyano, nitro or in each case optionally substituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl, alkylsul- phonyl, alkylamino, dialkylamino or phenyl, (with the proviso that A and D do not both simultaneously represent nitrogen), E represents oxygen or sulphur, R1 represents in each case optionally substituted alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heteroaryl, R2 represents hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, amino or in each case optionally substituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl, alkylsulphonyl, alkyl- amino or dialkylamino, X represents nitrogen or a CH grouping, Y represents nitrogen or the grouping C-R3, in which R3 represents hydrogen, halogen, cyano, alkyl, formyl, alkylcarbonyl or alkoxycarbonyl, and Z represents nitrogen or the grouping C-R4, in which R4 represents hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, amino or in each case optionally substituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl, alkylsul- phonyl, alkylamino or dialkylamino.
