A method of herd management which includes providing each member of the herd with a device (eg; an intra vaginal device) capable of identifying the member, of sensing at least one physiological condition of the member of the herd and communicating with other such devices and/or a base station. With such communication the proximity of devices each other allows groupings to be determined such as a grouping indicative of behavioural oestrus. With such devices it is possible by monitoring groupings of the animal to determine those in oestrus and to have the device administer appropriate active ingredients to some of the animals of the herd.

L'invention porte sur un procédé de gestion de troupeaux qui consiste à équiper chaque bête du troupeau d'un dispositif (un dispositif intravaginal par exemple) capable d'identifier la bête, de détecter au moins un état physiologique de la bête et de communiquer avec d'autres dispositifs identiques et/ou une station de base. Grâce à cette communication, la proximité des dispositifs permet de déterminer des regroupements, par exemple un regroupement indiquant un comportement d'animaux en rut. L'utilisation de tels dispositifs permet de déterminer, par la surveillance des regroupements des animaux, ceux qui sont en chaleur et de laisser le dispositif administrer des principes actifs adéquats à certains des animaux du troupeau.
