A hermaphroditic connector for the connection of electrical and/or optical systems is described. The system comprises a coupling having a first and a second connector. Each connector (100) comprises an outer sleeve (101) and an insert housing (102). The outer sleeve (101) has an engagement member (103) and the insert housing comprises a substantially cylindrical base portion (104) and a single upstanding portion (105) having a co-operable engagement member (106). The upstanding portion (105) of the insert housing (102) of the first connector is adapted to mate with and form a cylindrical inner sleeve with a corresponding upstanding portion (105) of a second connector. The engagement member (103) is adapted to engage, in use, with the co-operable engagement member (106) of the second connector to which the connector is to be mated. Each connector may also be provided with an insert member, the insert member having a hermaphroditic profiled end portion adapted to mate with corresponding insert member of an opposing connector; the mating providing alignment between the systems that require connection.
L'invention concerne un connecteur hermaphrodite destiné à la connexion de systèmes électrique et/ou optiques. Ce système comprend un raccord qui comporte un premier et un second connecteur. Chaque connecteur (100) comprend un manchon (101) externe et un boîtier(102) rapporté. Le manchon (101) externe comprend un élément (103) d'accouplement et le boîtier rapporté comprend une partie (104) de base sensiblement cylindrique et une partie (105) proéminente unique comprenant un élément (106) d'accouplement coopérant. La partie (105) proéminente du boîtier (102) rapporté du premier connecteur est conçue pour venir s'accoupler avec une partie (105) proéminente complémentaire d'un second connecteur et former avec cette dernière un manchon interne cylindrique. L'élément (103) d'accouplement est conçu pour entrer en contact, à l'état connecté, avec l'élément (106) d'accouplement coopérant du second connecteur destiné à être raccordé au premier connecteur. Chaque connecteur peut en outre comporter un élément rapporté, cet élément rapporté présentant une partie terminale à profil hermaphrodite conçue pour pouvoir s'accoupler avec l'élément rapporté correspondant d'un connecteur opposé, l'accouplement de ces deux éléments produisant un alignement entre les systèmes à connecter.
