The present invention provides an implantable substrate sensor comprising electronic circuitry (70) formed within, or on, a substrate (52). A protective coating (56) then covers the substrate, forming a hermetically sealed package having the circuitry under the coating. The circuitry has electrically conductive pads (72a and 72b) for communicating and/or providing power to the circuitry. Electrical pathways provide hermetic electrical connection to the conductive pads for external connection to the sealed circuitry. In a first embodiment, the pathway is a via that is made from biocompatible material that is made hermetic by either increasing its thickness or by ion beam deposition. Alternatively, the pathways are formed from metal traces (74), surrounded by a biocompatible insulation material, essentially parallel to the surface of the substrate that are connected to the conductive pads by first vias and have second ends externally accessible to the sealed package to provide external electrical connection to the hermetically sealed circuitry within.
La présente invention concerne un capteur de substrat implantable comprenant un circuit électronique (70) formé dans ou sur un substrat (52). Un revêtement protecteur (56) recouvre ensuite le substrat, formant un boîtier hermétiquement fermé, le circuit étant situé sous le revêtement. Le circuit est équipé de tampons électroconducteurs (72a et 72b) de communication et/ou d'alimentation du circuit. Des voies électriques constituent une connexion électrique hermétique aux tampons conducteurs pour une connexion externe au circuit hermétiquement fermé. Dans un premier mode de réalisation, la voie est un trou d'interconnexion fait d'un matériau biocompatible rendu hermétique par augmentation de son épaisseur ou par dépôt par faisceau électronique. En variante, les voies sont formées de traces métalliques (74) entourées par un matériau isolant biocompatible, essentiellement parallèles à la surface du substrat, connectées aux tampons conducteurs par des premiers trous d'interconnexion et possédant des secondes extrémités accessibles de manière externe au boîtier hermétique de manière à établir une connexion électrique externe au circuit hermétiquement fermé situé à l'intérieur.
