An electrical apparatus (10), such as a transformer, includes an expandable internal chamber (12) that is non-venting and completely and permanently sealed from the ambient environment. The chamber houses a core and coil assembly (11) or other current-carrying conductor and is completely filled with dieletric fluid (40) having a pressure less than one atmosphere. The enclosure walls (12) are flexible and are permitted to bow inwardly and outwardly as the volume of the dielectric fluid changes due to thermal expansion and contraction. A method of processing the dielectric fluid and filling and sealing the transformer at sub-atmospheric pressure is also disclosed.
Un appareil électrique (10) tel qu'un transformateur présente une chambre intérieure (12) expansible sans évents, entièrement étanche, de manière permanente, par rapport à l'atmosphère environnante. Cette chambre contient un assemblage d'un noyau et d'enroulements (11), ou un autre conducteur électrique, et elle est complètement remplie au moyen d'un liquide diélectrique (40) dont la pression est inférieure à une atmosphère. Les parois de l'enceinte (12) sont flexibles et on les laisse se bomber vers l'intérieur et vers l'extérieur quand le volume du liquide diélectrique change en raison de la dilatation et de la contraction thermique. L'invention concerne aussi un procédé de traitement du liquide diélectrique et de remplissage et d'étanchéification du transformateur sous une pression inférieure à la pression atmosphérique.
