Disclosed are novel amine compounds of the Formula: (see formula I) (wherein R5 is H; R4 is H or optionally F -substituted phenylmethyl, thienylmethyl or furylmethyl; and R12 is an optionally substituted ring selected from the group consisting of thiazolidin-3-yl, 1-oxothiazolidin-3-yl, 1,1- dioxothiazolidin-3-yl, pyrrolidin-1-yl, piperidin-1-yl, azetidin-1-yl, 1,2-oxazinan-2-yl, isoxazolidin-2-yl, isothiazolidin-2-yl, 1,2-oxazetidin-2-yl and oxazolidin-3-yl. The amine compounds are useful for producing compounds of the formula: (see formula II) (wherein R1, R10 and R11 are H or substituent; R2 is H, R3 is H or alkyl; R6 corresponds to CO-R12; and R4 and R5 are as defined above) which are glycogen phosphorylase inhibitors.
