A heteroaromatic oxazole compound represented by general formula (I) of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof: wherein Z represents oxygen; one of R and R1 represents a group represented by formula (a), (wherein R3 represents lower alkyl, amino or lower alkylamino; and R4, R5, R6 and R7 may be the same or different and each represents hydrogen, halogeno, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, trifluoromethyl, hydroxy or amino, provided that at least one of R4, R5, R6 and R7 is not hydrogen), while another of them represents optionally substituted cycloalkyl, an optionally substituted heretocyclic group or optionally substituted aryl; and R2 represents lower alkyl or halogenated lower alkyl. The compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof has an antipyretic/analgesic effect and an anti-inflammatory effect and, in particular, selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2). Thus it is expected to be useful as an anti-inflammatory agent, etc., with little side effects such as gastrointestinal disorders.

Le composé ou l'un de ses sels acceptable sur le plan pharmaceutique a une action antipyrétique-analgésique et un effet anti-inflammatoire et, en particulier, inhibe sélectivement la cyclooxygénase 2 (COX-2).
