Hydrogen fluoride-resistant articles are disclosed which have HF contact surfaces consisting essentially of sintered, single phase polycrystalline, solid solution alumina and magnesia ceramic. The ceramic has a magnesia content equal to or less than the solubility limit of magnesia in alumina at the sintering temperature for the ceramic. Also disclosed are processes using such surfaces as HF contact surfaces.

Articles résistant au fluorure d'hydrogène dont la surface en contact avec le fluorure d'hydrogène est essentiellement faite d'une céramique frittée, monophase, polycristalline constituée par une solution solide d'alumine et de magnésie. La teneur en magnésie de ladite céramique est inférieure ou égale à la limite de solubilité de la magnésie dans l'alumine à la température de frittage qui lui est propre. Sont également présentés des procédés d'utilisation desdites surfaces en contact avec le fluorure d'hydrogène.
