The application relates to the problem of improving the corrosion resistance and creep properties of standard Cr-steels like E911 (table 1) at high temperatures. To solve this problem, a method of adding up to 0.5 atomic % Hf both during casting or moulding and by ion implantation is provided. The addition of Hf improves the corrosion resistance and creep properties inter alia, as it forms a finely distributed stable second phase and as the harmful M23C6 disappears, because all carbon is taken by Hf to form HfC.

Cette invention vise à améliorer la résistance à la corrosion et les caractéristiques de fluage d'aciers au chrome classique tels que E911 (tableau 1) aux hautes températures. Le procédé proposé consiste à ajouter jusqu'à 0,5 % atomique de Hf pendant le coulage ou le moulage ainsi que par implantation ionique. L'adjonction de Hf permet d'améliorer entre autres choses la résistance à la corrosion et les caractéristiques de fluage dans la mesure où elle donne une seconde phase finement répartie s'accompagnant d'une disparition des carbures M23C6 du fait que la totalité du carbone est absorbée par Hf sous forme de HfC.
