An apparatus and method of operation are disclosed for a high current electrical connector system and switch. The system includes a male pin having a first end and a second end formed by a pair of resilient slotted legs and a central axial bore in the second end. Also included is a female socket having a substantially cylindrical side wall and a bottom surface which define a cavity, an open end and a post that extends from the bottom surface. The male pin slotted legs are received in and in electrical contact with the female socket cavity. The female socket post is received in and electrical contacts with the bore in the second end of the male pin whereby the second end of the pin is trapped in the female socket between the cavity and post.
