A telecommunications/data link-and-connector assembly having a contact displacement (CDA) cable with a plurality of transmission lines, and having first and second interface end assemblies respectively disposed at opposite ends of the CDA cable. Each interace end assembly has a contact alignment body with a line end and an interface end, and also has contact elements and a housing in a locking engagement with the interface end of the contact alignment body. The contact elements are respectively disposed on the contact alignment body and extend from a position adjacent the line end toward the interface end. Each contact element is movable between a contact position and a non-contact position, and has a contact area and a line connection area for an electrical connection with a respective line. A housing on either end of the telecommunications/data link-and-connector assembly is capable of assuming a mated state with a housing on either end of a further telecommunications/data link-and-connector assembly. Respective contact elements in the mated housings make contact in the contact area and a tap is insertable between the contact elements. Insertion of the tap allows electrical signals to be tapped from the contact elements.
