An OTDR stores data samples in a predeter- mined sequence in a memory. Data is read from and written to the memory in the predetermined se- quence by application of successive control signals. The stored data is read, added to a correlated sample of a new signal and the result stored to maintain the predetermined sequence of samples. Successive tests thus accumulate samples in sequence to provide an in- dication of the variation of the signal as the light pulse passes along the fibre under tests.

Un réflectomètre optique temporel stocke des échantillons de données en une séquence prédéterminée dans une mémoire. Des données sont extraites de la mémoire et enregistrées dans celle-ci, dans la séquence prédéterminée, par application de signaux de commande successifs. Les données stockées sont extraites, ajoutées à un échantillon corrélé d'un nouveau signal, et le résultat est stocké afin de conserver la séquence prédéterminée d'échantillons. Des tests successifs accumulent ainsi des échantillons en séquences afin de fournir une indication de la variation du signal à mesure que l'impulsion de lumière parcourt la fibre soumise à des tests.
