A zirconium-free aluminum salt which: (a) has an aluminum to chloride molar ratio in the range of 0.5-2.5:1; (b) comprises a nitrogen containing buffering material in an amount such that the ratio of nitrogen containing material to aluminum is the range of 0.05-0.26:1, and which nitrogen containing material is selected from the group consisting of a nitrogen containing buffering material of formula (I) where n is a number in the range of 1-20, and each of R1, R2, and R3 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl and ethyl; and (c) the salt has a pH in the range of 2-4 at a concentration of 15 %; wherein the salt is free of any other halide scavenging material and has a value of at least .50 for the ratio calculated as: area of Peak 5/total area under Peak 2 + Peak 3 + Peak 4 + Peak 5.

L'invention concerne un sel d'aluminium sans zirconium (a) qui présente un rapport molaire aluminium/chlorure se situant entre 0,5 et 2,5 : 1 ; (b) qui comprend un matériau tampon contenant de l'azote en quantité telle que le rapport matériau contenant de l'azote/aluminium se situe entre 0,05 et 0,26 : 1, lequel matériau contenant de l'azote est choisi dans le groupe constitué d'un matériau tampon contenant de l'azote de la formule, dans laquelle n est un nombre situé entre 1 et 20 et chacun des R?1¿, R?2¿ et R?3¿ est indépendamment choisi dans le groupe comprenant hydrogène, méthyle et éthyle ; et (c) dont le sel présente un pH se situant entre 2 et 4 à une teneur de 15 % ; le sel étant exempt de tout autre matériau de piégeage halogéné et ayant une valeur d'au moins 0,50 pour le rapport calculé en tant que : zone Pic 5/zone totale sous Pic 2 + Pic 3 + Pic 4 + Pic 5.
