A B S T R A C T This invention consists of a recirculating hot air or hot water heating system in which the cold atmospheric air entering the combustion chamber of the furnace is preheated by combustion gases before entering the chamber, so as to provide more efficient combustion at a reduced quantity of fuel. The amount of heat obtained from the system for a given amount of fuel, is further enhanced by providing a heat exchanger in which spent return air is again heated in the heat exchanger by the hot combustion gases.
