This invention relates to a process for producing methanol from a synthesis gas produced by partial oxidation of natural gas with an oxidant stream having a high nitrogen content, such as an oxygen enriched air stream. This invention utilizes a high pressure non-permeate gas stream of low BTU content obtained from a partial expansion of a very high pressure tail gas of the process down to a high pressure together with a high pressure non-permeate gas stream of low oxygen content to achieve an energy efficient process by passing these non- permeate, high pressure streams in combination into contact with an oxidizing catalyst, so to significantly increase the temperature of these combine high pressure gas streams, for increased working energy recovery there from, as by their expansion through a hot gas expander.
L~invention concerne un procédé de production de méthanol à partir d~un gaz de synthèse produit par oxydation partielle de gaz naturel avec un flux d~oxydant ayant un contenu d~azote élevé, tel qu~un flux d~air enrichi par de l~oxygène. La présente invention utilise un flux à haute pression de gaz non perméat de faible contenu BTU obtenu par une expansion partielle d~un gaz queue à très haute pression du procédé en descendant jusqu~à une haute pression ainsi qu~avec un flux à haute pression de gaz non perméat de faible contenu en oxygène afin de parvenir à un procédé économe en énergie en passant ces flux non perméats à haute pression en combinaison en contact avec un catalyseur oxydant de manière à augmenter de manière significative la température de ces flux de gaz à haute pression combinés pour une augmentation de la récupération d~énergie de travail à partir de ceux-ci, ainsi que par leur expansion au travers d~un détendeur de gaz chauds.
