ABSTRACT The invention relates to a device for applying symbols to protein-containing material. It is known to do this by means of electrically heated elements which burn the hide or flesh of an animal. According to the invention a high frequency between 2 and 22 MHz is used, the electromagnetic waves of which generate a change in the protein structure of the hide due to which, in a painless way, the colour is locally changed.
