Abstract In a high frequency ignition transformer for an oil or gas burner, comprising at least one primary coil (1) on the low voltage side and one secondary coil (2) on the high voltage side, for the purpose of increasing the ignition current on the secondary side, the primary coil (1) and the secondary coil (2) are in the form of coaxial multi-layer coils and the axial length of the secondary coil (2) is a multiple of that of the primary coil (1) so that a negative stray inductance is obtained on the secondary side.
