ABSTRACT By addition of methacrylate/unsaturated acid and/or vinyl amide copolymers, poly(vinyl alcohol) can be melt-processed and co-extruded with structural polymers like poly(ethylene terephthalate) to form multilayer films and objects with good adhesion between the components and good barrier properties. The films and objects can be separated and re-used by dissolution in water of the poly(vinyl alcohol)/methacrylate polymer blends and recovery of the structural polymer.
