HIGH INTENSITY LAMP DIMMING CIRCUIT ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A high intensity lamp dimming circuit in which the lamp or lamps are placed in series with a pair of reactive elements, one of which is at least partially bypassed when the voltage across the element and the current through it are of the same polarity. The relative time of the bypass determines the amplitude of the lamp current and hence its brightness. A control network, isolated from the power lines to which the lamp network is connected, controls the timing of the bypass. This control network preferably uses a programmable unijunction tran- sistor and operates on a low-level dc setting. The control circuit design permits ready connection to single phase and three phase power systems alike.
