A high intensity batch mixer comprising a cylindrical chamber having a feed inlet and a discharge outlet, a drive shaft extending axially through said cylindrical chamber, a plurality of blades secured to said shaft and extending outwardly therefrom, an electric motor connected to said drive shaft, and at least one flywheel mounted on said drive shaft.
