This invention relates to a layered high loft flame resistant batting comprising a base layer and an outer layer and an article such as a mattress containing such batting. The base layer of the batting comprises 30 to 80 parts by weight heat resistant fibers, 5 to 55 parts by weight of a cellulose fiber that retains at least 10 percent of its fiber weight when heated in air to 700~C at a rate of 20 degrees C per minute, and a first binder material. The outer layer comprises a second binder material and up to 85 parts by weight of a fiber that is either (i) a cellulose fiber that retains at least 10 percent of its fiber weight when heated in air to 700~C at a rate of 20 degrees C per minute, (ii) a modacrylic fiber, or (iii) mixtures including these two fibers. In the high loft batting, the base layer comprises 20 to 70 parts by weight and the outer layer comprises 80 to 30 parts by weight, based on the total weight of those two layers, and the batting has a total thickness of 0.5 inches (1.25 centimeters) or greater.
La présente invention concerne, d'une part une ouatine ignifuge très gonflante faite d'une couche de base et d'une couche extérieure, et d'autre part un article tel qu'un matelas ainsi ouatiné. La couche de base comprend 30 à 80 parties en masse de fibres thermorésistantes, 5 à 55 parties en masse d'une fibre de cellulose conservant au moins 10 % de sa masse fibreuse après chauffage à l'air à 700 °C à une vitesse de 20 °C/mn, et un premier matériau liant. La couche externe comprend un second matériau liant et jusqu'à 85 parties en masse d'une fibre qui est (i) soit une fibre cellulosique qui conserve au moins 10 % de sa masse fibreuse après chauffage à l'air à 700 °C à une vitesse de 20 °C/mn, (ii) soit une fibre modacrylique, (iii) soit enfin un mélange de ces deux fibres. Dans cette ouatine très gonflante, la couche de base représente 20 à 70 parties de la masse, la couche externe représentant 80 à 30 parties de la masse, en prenant comme référence la masse totale des deux couches. L'épaisseur totale de la ouatine est d'au moins ? pouce (environ 1,25 cm).
