The disclosed invention comprises a simple, efficient and inexpensive transmission for varying speed and engagement of power comprising a planetary drive with input means driven by a prime mover's output, scheduled friction brake means for gradually slowing and stopping the rotation of an idler wheel member of the planetary drive so that as the force of the brake is increased, power is automatically transferred from the idler wheel member to the output of the planetary drive, starting with a slow speed with high torque to a fast speed with lower torque by scheduled increments which enable rotation of the output shaft, under load resistance, without prime mover stall.
Le présent brevet vise une transmission simple, efficace et peu coûteuse permettant de faire varier la vitesse et de mettre en traction. Elle se compose d'un entraînement planétaire dont les dispositifs d'entrée sont commandés par la sortie principale d'un moteur d'entraînement, de dispositifs de freinage à friction réglés pour ralentir graduellement, puis stopper, la rotation d'une roue folle de l'entraînement planétaire de sorte que l'augmentation de la force de freinage appliquée transfère automatiquement la puissance de la roue folle à la sortie de l'entraînement planétaire, passant par incréments prédéfinis d'une faible vitesse et d'un couple élevé à une vitesse élevée et un couple moindre, ce qui permet la mise en rotation de l'arbre de sortie assujetti à la résistance exercée par les charges sans décrochage du moteur d'entraînement.
