ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A pressed powder cosmetic eye shadow composition containing from about 40-80% by weight of nacreous material and a binder comprising a dry binder ingredient selected from the group consisting of cosmetically suitable micronized polyethylene wax and a mixture of liquid/solid binder ingredients comprising petrolatum; a cosmetically suitable tetraester having the formula C(CH2O)4[?-R]4 wherein R may be a straight, branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl having from 5 to 21 carbon atoms; and a cosmetically suitable polyolefin (synthetic wax) formed by polymerizing an alpha olefin having the formula RCH = CH2, wherein R is a hydrocarbon group having from 3 to 18 carbon atoms.
