Provided is a high performance cannula having a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending between the proximal and distal ends, wherein the diameter of the lumen of the cannula can be varied to take into account differences in the diameter of access and target vessels during cannulation. The cannula is characterized by a narrow diameter at the point of insertion that does not adversely impact the flow rate of fluids through the cannula. The cannulas according to this invention produce a small access aperture and are characterized by flow rates that are at least as effective as those of conventional cannulas that produce larger access apertures.
L'invention concerne une canule à hautes performances comprenant une extrémité proximale, une extrémité distale et une lumière s'étendant entre les extrémités proximale et distale, le diamètre de la lumière de canule pouvant varier de manière à prendre en compte les différences du diamètre d'accès et des vaisseaux cible lors de la canulation. Ladite canule se caractérise par un petit diamètre au niveau du point d'insertion qui n'a aucun effet préjudiciable sur le débit des fluides s'écoulant dans la canule. Les canules selon l'invention permettent de réaliser un petit orifice d'accès et elles sont caractérisées par des débits pour le moins tout aussi efficaces que ceux des canules classiques produisant des orifices d'accès plus grands.
