Disclosed are moulding compounds, semi-finished products and finished articles of high-polymeric. material which can be inscribed by means of laser light. Such products were previously subject to restrictions with respect to their processing and their properties. The novel moulding compounds and semi-finished products and finished articles produced from them are able to be inscribed with laser light, but are not subject to any such restrictions. The products are capable of being adjusted to any desired colour. The novel products contain an additive which is virtually colourless in the visible spectral range and produces a marking with high colour contrast in the visible spectral range under the effect of laser light outside the visible range. The contrast ratio is greater than 3:1. The laser-inscribed finished articles of high-polymeric materials may be used for microelectronics and precision engineer- ing.
