HIGH PRESSURE LET DOWN VALVE SYSTEM Abstract of the disclosure A method and apparatus are described for controlling a high pressure let down, valve system for liquid flow. The system includes a valve body having a liquid flow passage therethrough, this passage having an outwardly flared truncated conical outlet portion forming a valve seat and an axially movable valve stem having a conical tip adapted to engage the valve seat. Control means are pro- vided adapted to control the movement of the valve stem in a cyclic on-off mode between a fully closed position and variable open positions as well as to control the length of the time of the stem in the fully closed or open position. This control means is further adapted to slowly move the stem from fully closed to an open position and to quickly move the stem from an open position to a fully closed position. This proportional on-off control avoids excessive wear on the valve seat and/or stem.
