The invention relates to a high-pressure metal halide lamp provided with a discharge vessel with a ceramic wall enclosing a discharge space. The vessel has a cylindrical portion of internal diameter ID which is closed off at either end by end wall portions which form end faces of the discharge space. At least two electrodes are arranged in the discharge vessel, whose respective tips have an interspacing EA such that ID/EA0.4. The electrodes have lead- throughs which are enclosed in ceramic closing plugs and are connected thereto in a gastight manner by means of ceramic glazing joints. According to the invention, the rated lamp power is at most 100 W, and an electrode tip lies substantially in the adjacent end face. A closing plug is fastened in the relevant end wall portion in a gastight manner at a distance from the end face.

Cette invention se rapporte à une lampe à halogène-métal à haute pression, qui comporte une enceinte à décharge avec une paroi en céramique renfermant un espace de décharge. Ladite enceinte possède une partie cylindrique de diamètre interne ID, qui est fermée aux deux extrémités par des parties de paroi terminale, lesquelles forment les faces terminales de l'espace de décharge. Dans l'enceinte à décharge sont disposées au moins deux électrodes, dont les pointes respectives ont un espace entre elles EA tel que ID/EA?0.4. Les électrodes comportent des fils conducteurs traversants, qui sont enfermés dans des bouchons de fermeture en céramique et qui sont connectés à ceux-ci au moyen de joints à vitrification en céramique, de façon à assurer l'étanchéité aux gaz. Selon cette invention, la puissance nominale de la lampe est de 100 W au maximum et une pointe d'électrode aboutit dans la face terminale adjacente. Un bouchon de fermeture est fixé dans la partie de paroi terminale correspondante à une certaine distance de la face terminale, d'une façon à assurer l'étanchéité aux gaz.
