A high-pressure connector (20) for an electrical power cable segment (10) having a central stranded conductor (14) encased in a polymeric insulation with an interstitial void volume in the region of the conductor (14). The connector (20) confines a fluid within the interstitial void volume at a residual pressure above atmospheric, but below the elastic limit of the insulation jacket (12). A housing (16) interior chamber receives the conductor (14) in fluid communication with the interstitial void volume. Some embodiments have the chamber sized to receive and overlap a portion of the insulation jacket (12) with a housing (16) end portion swaged thereto. A seal (38) seals the insulation jacket (12) with respect to the housing (16) and a retaining member secures the cable segment (10) to the housing (16) to prevent pushback of the insulation jacket (12) at the residual pressure.

Cette invention concerne une connexion haute pression pour une section de câble d'alimentation électrique comportant un conducteur toronné central noyé dans une gaine isolante polymère avec un espace vide interstitiel dans la région du conducteur. Un fluide est enfermé dans cet espace vide interstitiel sous une pression résiduelle supérieure à la pression atmosphérique, mais inférieure à la limite élastique de la gaine isolante. A l'intérieur d'un boîtier, une chambre intérieure en communication fluidique avec l'espace vide interstitiel reçoit le fluide conducteur.
