A resistant initiator for an automobile passenger restraint system which includes a shell casing having an upper chamber and a lower chamber. Contact pins connect the initiator to a mating electrical connector of a vehicle. A metal oxide varistor disposed in the shell casing provides electrostatic discharge and EMI/RFI rotection for the initiator. A glass to metal seal header is formed in the shell casing and includes an integrated circuit for igniting the pyrotechnic material disposed in a charge holder attached to the shell casing.

Amorceur résistant pour système de retenue des passagers d'un véhicule automobile comprenant un boîtier enveloppe doté d'une chambre supérieure et d'une chambre inférieure. Des broches de contact relient l'amorceur à un connecteur électrique correspondant du véhicule. Un varistor à oxyde de métal placé dans le boîtier enveloppe protège l'amorceur contre les parasites et les interférences. Une embase à scellement verre sur métal se trouve dans le boîtier enveloppe et comprend un circuit intégré pour la mise à feu de la matière pyrotechnique présente dans le dispositif contenant la charge fixé au boîtier enveloppe.
